The international innovation network "upMining" is an association of companies and research institutions from Germany and Bulgaria with the aim of processing plastics, bioenergies and waste using a new process, upgrading them and making them usable as materials.

The vision of the network partners is to break down hydrocarbons atomically through plasmalysis and to reassemble them (synthesis) for obtaining valuable "raw materials" ("upmining"). In addition, a sustainable, environmentally sound and precise separation of materials is to be achieved: Some substances are recycled in the process (water), used as fertiliser (minerals), securely disposed (toxic ones), recycled (metals), or sorted out (unwanted ones).
